Garrett Meyers is an American Adventure sport Photographer and Film creative, with a passion for the outdoors.
Growing up in Seattle, WA. Garrett was no stranger to the wild forests of the PNW, but it wasn't until age 18 that he signed up for the local (ish) climbing gym and got instantly hooked.
Fast forward a year and the Rusty Nut Crew was created, a group of friends built around climbing, hiking and type-2 fun. The name originated with the intent to replace old sport bolts on climbing routes, but it took a backseat while the team built on personal skills and experience.
Film and Photography has been Garrett's primary interest since the age of 13, when he picked up his moms camera and started shooting everything he could. On his 14th birthday he received his first camera, he gathered his friends and had a blast making one of the worst first films imaginable, but the learning lessons were plentiful.
Following the premiere of his first film, the motivation for pursuing film was sky high. Garrett started reaching out to local film creatives and started his list of contacts. Sam Nuttman of Motion State was one of the first to bring him up in film. Sam brought him on set of the documentary he was working on at the time and showed him the ropes.
Fast forward another 9 years and Garrett is living his childhood dream of working full time in film.
Garrett joined the Peaks of Life team in early 2017, as the designated photographer and media manager
Peaks of Life is an endeavor to help the children of the Northwest reach their full potential. We are a guild with Seattle Children's Hospital focused on raising funds for uncompensated health care. We, too, believe that the world's best medical attention should be available to every child regardless of economic status. To realize this vision, we raise funds through our efforts in the mountains and community events. In the mountains, we climb the most prominent peaks in the Pacific Northwest and the world while collecting pledges to bring awareness and funds to pay for children's health care. Within the community we host fundraising events and work directly with the children of the Northwest to encourage a healthy lifestyle and promote outdoor fluency. Our proceeds go toward helping children and families overcome the burden of medical expenses, so that kids can get back to being kids, and families can continue raising our next generation.
We play for the dirt of it. For the wind, snow, and rain of it. We experience more. We’re efficient. We’re technical. We stay educated and we teach the craft. We’re the Technicians.
